Emily the hero
Thank you to Dorian Box and Bookish First for an ARC of The Girl in Cell 49B.
I don't give away spoilers in my reviews.
This is the second book of the Emily Calby series. I loved the first book - The Hiding Girl, and equally loved this book as well.
Emily is the main character and I love how she has grown up throughout both books. I love her sense of justice, her wit and her teenage awkwardness. She reads a a real character - as do the rest of the characters - Lucas, Ms. Mava, Paula, Rebecca, etc. I especially loved Emily's friendship with Rebecca.
The settings are easy to imagine - from the Juvie hall to courtroom to cheeseburger restaurant.
I love stories of justice served and Emily's story was a strong one. I hope Dorian Box continues this series. I'd also be very interested in reading stories about the other characters - Leslie, Rebecca, Lola, etc. I think a whole series and even a Netflix series would be easy to imagine and enjoy.
