This was really touching and told such a meaningful much-needed story. I didn't quite like the writing style, but everything else was good. I thought this was standalone and didn't realize it was the second book which might have lessened my liking of it as well. But it was still a pretty good book, I think it can be read as a standalone as well but I'm not sure. It was exciting, and it dealt with sensitive topics. I also loved the setting, a juvenile detention center is not something that you see often. It was giving me Orange is the New Black vibes, and I was loving that. Overall this was a pretty unique book, not something you see often and something that should be more common, I liked the main character. I saw that she was definitely someone who has been through a lot, and that really made me understand her bettter. Overall a decent book, could be better, but I liked it.
