I was fortunate to read the first book in this series, The Hiding Girl, and I loved it. I was hoping that this book would be just as engaging as the first. The excerpt provided by BookishFirst was promising as it looked like this book would continue where the first book left off.
I eagerly downloaded the novel and began to read and the next thing I knew I was halfway through the book. YES, it is that good! This can be read as a stand alone novel but I like that I had previously read the first book.
The story mainly focuses on Emily being sent to a juvenile prison for a crime that she committed while on the run in The Hiding Girl. (It's ok, there will be a recap if you haven't read the first book.) While it does not sound that exciting at first, the character of Emily is always in the thick of things wherever she goes and there is plenty of conflict within the prison walls.
I really enjoy Dorian Box's Calby series and hope to see a third one in the future.
