Worth the time
Initially I had a hard time with this book, as I really wanted a broader picture than the biographical experiences of the author. However, as I continued my reading, I found a lot of new ideas to evaluate and learn from. I really enjoyed the portion on perception. It is very timely to the American experience at the moment, making the point that one’s perception very much affects evaluation of a situation, may not accurately reflect the reality.
I also appreciated the discussions on emotions and trauma and the connection of the two. It certainly makes sense that blocked emotions may contribute to the trauma one experiences.
The chapter on meditation and morning journaling were also very helpful. I plan to put these into practice in my own life. It seems like they would be helpful to even the normally sensitive person. I plan to reread this book.
