The Gift of Sensitivity by Elena Amber was a solid three-star read. I did struggle a bit with the first half as it was presented as almost a memoir. The author almost trauma dumps in the beginning, which I did have a difficult time navigating and finding an actual reason for. However, the second half of the book really picks up and the author begins to use her research and knowledge of emotional sensitivity and I started to really enjoy learning from her expertise. This was a really quick read, due to the size of the book, but I think it was the perfect length. Additionally, the writing style was relatively easy to follow and engaging. The ending is strong and feels inspiring.

I would recommend this book to any nonfiction lovers who want to learn more about the human psyche, and to anyone who wants to learn to be a more understanding person. The real triumph of this book is showing that you never truly understand what people are going through and to be understanding. I think it would also make people who suffer from hypersensitivity feel more confident about themselves and their social abilities.
