“My lab felt more like a home to me than any iteration of home ever had.”

“...Nathan had created Martine to do what I wouldn’t do for him. What I refused outright, what I’d gone to great lengths to prevent.”

“Clones aren’t people, legally speaking. They don’t have rights. They’re specimens. They’re body doubles, or organ farms, or research subjects. They’re temporary, and when they stop being useful, they become biomedical waste. They are disposable.”

“...No matter how much Martine developed her own personality and desires, she didn’t have a right to them. She was a made thing. She was a tool, and tools didn’t have the right to decide how they’re used.”

“Sometimes, in order to make something develop in the right direction, you have to hurt it.”

1.5 years hidden. I really disliked every single character.

This book didn’t pan out to be anything that I would have expected and not in a good way.

Truthfully, I spent most of the book bored.

This was a buddy read with myself and some of my best girlfriends, the consensus of the group is a 3 star rating.
