I went into this story a little hesitant. It sounded like it was going to be a good thriller, but the science fiction element put me off. I am so glad that I pushed through and decided to read it anyways. It ended up not really being a thriller at all, but it also was not heavy on the science fiction either. It was more of a domestic suspense
Martine is a clone of Evelyn Caldwell. She was patient, gentle, and obedient, and had an affair with Evelyn's husband. When he ends up dead, Martine has to rely on Evelyn for help. Even if she isn't fond of the clone she knew nothing about, she has to help her or her research and life are doomed.
I loved the way the author built the suspense in the story and detailed the different characters. Even though Martine was a clone of Evelyn, you could always tell a difference in their personalities. Sarah Gailey did a great job and I cannot wait to read more of her books.
