Having read and enjoyed several books by Sarah Gailey, I was really looking forward to their newest release. The Echo Wife proved to be an eerie, can't-put-down read that I am still thinking about even weeks after finishing it.

It follows Evelyn, a scientist who has perfected the ability to make human clones. She discovers that her husband has secretly used her own technique to make a clone of her--a better version of Evelyn named Martine, with whom he is having an affair.

Evelyn is still reeling from this discovery when her husband turns up dead. Suddenly, Evelyn and Martine both have a mess to clean up and no one but each other to turn to.

I loved that this novel explores complex questions of what it means to be human, and who deserves the ability to make choices for themselves and their bodies. What does it mean to have agency? This was an eerie novel full of creepy twists and turns that I couldn't put down!
