The Company of Demons tells the story of a prosecutor whose father worked on the notorious serial killer The Butcher's case. Following another murder that indicates The Butcher's return, he hires the victim's daughter as a client, and things get a little murky from there. Our titular protagonist has an affair with the client, eventually encounters The Butcher, and is then accused of murder.

As a result, I found this book to be satisfactory. I believe the stories would have fared much better if they had been published in different books. I despise books that contain infidelity for no apparent cause. Although there is a technical explanation for it in this book, the whole infidelity thread was weak. It's why there's some courtroom drama in the novel, which is needless given what the book is supposed to be about.

Fans of detective thrillers will enjoy this.
