I'm not fond of the cover, it's to plain for a book this exciting. This story is told by John in his POV. John's dad was a police officer who tried and failed to catch a serial killer called, the torso killer. This ate at his dad until ultimately his dad committed suicide. John was a child and he found him. He went through a bad time with counseling and thought he was okay.
Present day John is middle aged, married and has a 13 year old daughter. He frequents a bar he calls the Tam so much he knows it's owners on a first name basis. Karen (one owner) takes garbage to the alley, then John and her husband hear her scream.
Karen has found a body in the dumpster, brutally murdered.
This is were we meet Bernie, a police detective, but also John's friend. They figure out another serial killer is back after years of no activity, this one is called, the butcher.
John likes his alcohol a bit to much and manages to make a real mess of things in this book.
I love a good "who done it" book. This book does not disappoint. There are so many plot twists in here, that just when you think you know "who done it"-read on, because you're probably wrong!
There isn't much word building, but I don't think this book needs it. The author is very descriptive in events and even smells. I think the story comes together nicely.
