This book was just alright for me. The mystery of the butcher got a little lost in the middle of the book, I was disappointed to see that it really only took the spotlight a couple of times in the book despite all the foreshadowing in the beginning. The main character John Coleman, was my least favorite. I understand characters make some stupid decisions, but COMON this was just ridiculous! I have a killer after my daughter so I'm going to leave her alone to get coffee, gee I wonder what will happen... Stupid decisions including infidelity which John loves to remember even during the worst possible times. He says he's sorry a lot through the book and yet I never feel any real emotion behind that statement. Maybe because after he says he's sorry, he thinks about his black lawyer's breasts. Yes, the race card is so generously played through the book. Come to think of it, women aren't so spoke of highly either. Was I supposed to feel any compassion for John?

I did feel for Molly, the poor daughter caught up in all the mess. The twist with Oyster and his children was mystery enough to keep the book going. All in all, just okay.
