A Voracious Read Indeed

A voracious read to say the least. I was sucked into this read from jump, and it was one of those books that I put aside other (possibly important) things to finish. Yes, John Coleman is definitely a flawed man, but I appreciated his need for answers, and his attachment to his daughter. I understand how many reviewers felt that Mr. Jordan's writing leaned misogynistic, and I don't disagree, but I feel like John Coleman was unfortunately a very real man. I wish that the Torso/Butcher murders had been a little clearer - the use of two different murderers operating similarly was strange, albeit a copycat murderer - but the tension throughout the novel was ratcheted sufficiently. An uneven, yet fraught novel that I would recommend to readers with a strong stomach and need for twists and turns.
AND I don't feel like the book cover (or title for that matter) sell this book correctly. At first glance, this feels like a historical novel set somewhere in England. Or maybe that's just me.
