Stilted and to the Point

The cover is a perfect embodiment of the atmosphere Jordan is attempting to create. It was a smart choice to avoid the classic crime cover with bold font and faces of the victim. It leaves room for contemplation.

This book fixes my main complaint with the majority of crime books. Authors tend to draw out history before getting to the actual crime. I believe it should always go crime THEN history. In the first three chapters of this book, it is clear that Jordan took that approach.

The excerpt left me wanting and anxious. This is something I would clearly read in one sitting. Despite the stilted feeling of the writing, it is something that would not deter me from finishing the book.

First Impression: 3.5 stars rounded to 4.
