After reading the excerpt, it seems this book has three elements that will appeal to many readers: crime solving, serial killer(s) and restoring family honor. I think the combination of those elements will make this an engrossing read for many. At times the writing detracts from the story and perhaps could have used a bit more editing. Sentences like "Bernie shrugged, looking every inch the classic dick from late-night detective shows" and "I never should have talked to that damn rag" left me wondering if the novel was set in the early part of the 20th century. All in all, this book should appeal to people that enjoy thrillers.
