First impressions of a book often begin with the cover, but the artwork of this novel gives no hints to readers regarding its content. When a casual friend turns up decapitated in the alley outside a bar, John comes face to face with a reminder of his father's failed past. Once a detective, John's father was relieved of duty when he was unable to catch the Butcher. Has the murderer returned to terrorize the city once more?

I am definitely intrigued, based on the small number of pages that I have read. The Company of Demons has all of the elements of a good police procedural thriller: the threat of a serial killer, a fallible main character, and paranoia mixed with fear to round it all out. I look forward to finishing this novel and would recommend it to readers who are fans of the genre.
