I enjoy WWII-era books. They're some of my favorite reads. To have one from a young boy's perspective is unique, and it caught my interest.
I don't think I've ever read a book about the children's trains, so this seems like a book that will be entertaining and educational, which I enjoy with historical novels. And I believe this would be the first book I've read by an Italian author or with Italy as a setting, so that also caught my eye.
