This is an interesting start! I read many historical fiction books per year, but rarely are they from a child's perspective. This can be very interesting because children notice and think about things very differently from an adult, so their retelling tends to be more blunt and stated facts, until there is something they don't understand and it is up to us, the adult readers to play the game of figuring out what they really mean. A great recent example of this is The Girl with the Louding Voice. I would be excited to read this one.
