The Children’s Train instantly sends me back to troubled times. Times where family and friends are torn apart. People are being imprisoned, killed, and starving to death. This particular story, is from a young boy’s point of view. He like many other children are sent on a train up north to families who can care for them. From there, he knows a good life. After awhile he returns back home. It’s not the same as before he left. It’s gotten worse. He misses the home up north. Yet the boy is strong and he is determined to survive. World War II is a devastating time period. I can feel the emotions and fears on every page. Nothing will ever be the same. Until the war ends...there is no hope. This writer has crafted a beautiful story. One that’s pops to life with every word. I want to read more, and I need to know more. This boy and his life will forever be changed. Heartbreaking, intense, and engaging from the start. This book is a must read for all historical fans like myself.
