Are you like me and hate that we haven't had romcoms that are on par with the eary 2000s?!? Think Bride Wars, 27 Dresses, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Failure to Launch. No movies like these are being made anymore, and I couldn't be sadder.

But! Not all hope is lost because now we have books like The Best Laid Plans by Cameron Lund.

First of all, thank you to Bookish First for sending me a copy of this book. I knew that I wanted it based off the description, but I didn't know HOW MUCH I WANTED IT! I absolutely adored this book, and I'm so happy that I had a chance to read it early. Let's dive in, shall we?

Synopsis from Goodreads.

There are so many things about this book that I loved, but first and foremost was the attitude towards sex. Young adult books have always kind of addressed sex, but it's usually very vague and not really talked about. Best Laid Plans is a book that addresses that there's nothing wrong with being a virgin. You don't need to lose your virginity with anyone until you're ready. You shouldn't lie about it. And it's fine if you're not ready. I loved all these things, and since it was written about so beautifully, I'm so excited for teens to have access to this book.

Growing up in the south, if you talk about sex, you either need Jesus or you're a slut. There's no in between. So I didn't really read or see anything that normalizes sex for a long time. I'm so happy that teens can know more so than anything from reading this book, that you shouldn't have sex until you're ready. I really loved reading this and imagining the future readers who will read this book and be helped!

The story itself was incredible. I loved the slow burn romance. We all knew what would happen, that's one of the best parts about rom coms. But, I was so excited by the ending still! Knowing what happens in romcoms is apart of the fun for me.

I loved the friendships in this book, and even the frenemy-ships. They were so fun, and I loved at the end the frenemy aspect was addressed in a really great way that, again, will be great for teen readers.

I loved this book so much! I can't wait to reread it, and fall in love with Keely and Andrew all over again.
