Keely and Andrew have been best friends since elementary school, so he's the first one Keely goes to with all of her problems and concerns, except for one. At 18 years of age, Keely is upset that she is the last virgin in her class, and she is determined to remedy that before she goes to college. When she gets a job at the local movie store, she meets a good looking college boy named Dean and promptly develops a crush on him. As the weeks go by, Dean becomes pushy and physical, and Keely goes to Andrew for help and sexual advice. However, things are not as they seem, and Keely will have to make a big decision about who she is and what kind of relationship she really wants.

I thought this book was very realistic and representative of the physical, mental, and emotional struggles that teens and young adults have as they navigate relationships and begin to make serious life choices that will impact their future and have major consequences. It was easy to sympathize with Keely and Andrew and be concerned about their choices. There was plenty of humor and witty banter included, as well as some funny movie references. I didn't care for the excessive profanity or the more "open door" sexual content, and I don't endorse or condone the behavior of the characters. I did appreciate that the author included characters that made different choices, like waiting for marriage to be intimate or waiting for someone they really loved, and that those characters were not unduly ridiculed or criticized. I do recommend this book to anyone who doesn't find the content greatly objectionable and is interested in a well written rom-com.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Edelweiss. A positive review was not required, and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
