High School Drama
There was definitely points in The Best Laid Plans that brought back so many memories and also triggered all my insecurities from high school and college. Not a great feeling, but it also was so realistic that the words made me feel SO much. Being able to relate to a character is not a make or break for how much I love a book, but it also helps me be immersed in the story when I'm that connected to what the character/s are going through. So much of who we are stems from the experiences and choices we make in high school and I love reading about that time period. There is a cool clean slate that comes with starting over in college, so those "mistakes" or "mishaps" that are made in high school are great lessons that help you grow into yourself.
