It feels like whenever this genre takes a step in the right direction with diversity, it takes one step back for cultural norms. Another rom-com about virginity might have been okay in the early 2000s, but now it just feels a little behind the times. I would have loved (and maybe this is the case later in the story) . if our main protagonist realizes that being a virgin doesn't actually matter and that there is more to life than her maidenhead....
