I'm so lost right now. I'm pretty sure that even if a book isn't the first in a series, you should still be able to start it and not feel like you missed reading the first two thirds of a book. Apparently Cole and Tessa are in a relationship, but pretending like they're not after he gives an interview to ESPN. I'm not sure this constitutes writing a whole book, and I'm not sure what good pretending not to be in a relationship is when you go right on publicly having a relationship accomplishes.
