I rarely give books a full five (5) stars (and even more rarely I have been known to give a full seven stars on my blog), usually I give a it-was-as-awesome-as-it-could-be-but let’s-leave-room-for flaws-four-stars, but The Art of Escaping truly desires its five. This story covered the wonder of magic, escapism and its emotional/psychological undertones, and teenage angst with a refreshing twist. 17-year-old Mattie is a magician in her heart even though it will take some time to become one in reality. She wants to embark a upon a journey of self-discovery, inspiration, imagination, thrills, and self-fulfillment. With a little help from friends in times of need and direction, against all the odds....watch Mattie prevail!
