I'll admit that I was not sold on this book based on the description that was given. The First Look however, completely changed my mind. The writing is straightforward and witty and the characters that have been introduced so far are extremely appealing. I am also a fan of the cover design. The key symbolism promises more depth to the story, and the darker background might indicate some sinister aspects possibly not as yet revealed.
At first I didn't catch how the first few pages of text messages related to the story, but I caught on there at the end. I can't wait to see how that relationship develops from invisibility to “I heart you”. Additionally, the hints of the Akiko Miyake backstory are intriguing. A solid start on an interesting premise.
