First of all I have to say I love the reference to Buddy Cianci - I listened to the podcast Crimetown and it was all about him and the mob.
Second of all, the art of escapism does seem very intriguing, particularly mixing the modern day with the story of Akiko. I can't say I've ever read a fiction book with this subject as a theme and honestly you don't read many fiction books set in Rhode Island.
I do wonder if there are too many characters introduced in the first 20 pages, but it has definitely piqued my interest!
