I was so excited to see the dedication to David and Leigh Eddings, who got me hooked on fantasy back in middle school. From this short excerpt, I can already tell that Johnston will be bringing the Eddings iconic self-deprecating humor to a new generation. I immediately fell in love with the thief Olsa, and am interested to see where her self-destructive behavior after her "happily ever after" takes her. I love the bond that Olsa and Kalanthe have, despite their vast differences in upbringing, and am looking forward to seeing where their relationship goes!
