Mystery isn’t my usual genre. I took my sweet time getting through this one, but it was worth it. The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is a classic murder mystery/thriller type of novel but with a twist. The protagonist is tasked with finding a murderer, but he must do so using others as hosts, reliving the same day again and again as different people. Hey, if a Christie Agatha novel and Groundhog Day had a child, this would be the child. It’s an exciting and intriguing premise, though I found it a bit contrived at the beginning. That opinion quickly fell away as the story progressed. Between the complex relations between all the characters, the intricately-crafted plot, and the juicy twist at the end, this is a worthwhile read for anyone who is into mystery novels.
