The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is a mystery like no other. It is incredibly hard to discuss the book without giving away any spoilers. It starts out with a man waking up in a body that is not his and sprints off from there. 8 hosts, 8 chances to solve the mystery. Screw up or die and you start over again. With each host comes new insight into the mystery. Some hosts are more helpful than others, and some characters are a complete mystery until the end. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. The hosts are so well written that I had a hard time letting go of one when it was time for another. Fantastic characters and super original story. I had a hard time putting it down and once I finished, I felt a bit of sadness that it was over. I wonder what happened “after.” I will admit it was a bit confusing at times and I had to page back and check something more than once. Totally worth it though, it is a story like none you have read before. The ending is crazy stuff.
