This book was unlike anything I've ever read! A dinner party with a murder - and a time loop? Sounds dark and twisted, and so it was.
The plot was something that, while the general idea has been done before (e.g. Happy Deathday 2U, Groundhog Day, Before I Fall), was still fresh due to the main character waking up every time in someone else's body, another person at the dinner party. We got to see the inner workings of these hosts' minds and motivations, which added a more complex layer to the book. The atmosphere was also fantastic! The grounds of the manor where the story takes place, the Plague Doctor, the crumbling manor that hides secrets at every turn - what a cool, creepy world to immerse yourself into.
The reason this wasn't 5 stars was due to the pacing - the book could have been slightly shorter, and the breadcrumbs left by the author could have come more regularly. Despite this, I thought that it was nice that I was not able to guess all the twists and events, and the ending was satisfying, although a little confusing (to be fair, reading about time loops is always confusing!)
Would recommend if you're looking for a new mystery - I doubt you'll be able to solve this one!
