Seven or seven and a half?
I was surprised when I unexpectedly won this book. I am now a proud owner of the US edition (arc) and am curious whether there had been any difference with the US and the UK version. The cover and title can speak for itself. How different is 7 to 7 and a half, for instance? I also own the UK HC with "The Seven Deaths..." as the title. I was immediately hooked in the story because I liked the thriller/mystery atmosphere of the novel. It gave me sort of an "Agatha Christie" vibe.
I wanted to love this book but there was just something missing in it, in my opinion. The concept was brilliant and I enjoyed the first person narration of the protagonist as they try to piece what happened that night at the Hardcastle residence. While it had me confused near the beginning, I thought this was a wicked supernatural game that easily hooked me. Hence, rating this novel had been difficult for me to do. The downside is the slow pacing of the novel.
