The 7 (1/2 for those Americans out there) Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle was the first book in a while to truly suck me into the plot to where I had trouble putting this book down. I HAD TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. The first few pages I was worried I wouldn't like it, I wasn't looking for a complicated book that would give me a headache trying to keep everything straight, but this was not that! Stuart Turton does a beautiful job of taking a complex plot but presenting it flawlessly so the reader can follow the story effortlessly. I was so invested in this story!

Without saying too much the book starts with our unknown (maybe unreliable) narrator who has lost his memory and has to solve a murder. The first twist comes pretty early on but I still don't want to ruin it because it made me put the book down and go, okay this is going to be great.

As the connections all fell beautifully into place and the final twists were made clear I was shocked, fascinated, confused, happy, SO MANY EMOTIONS. The only thing stopping me from giving this book 5 stars is that ending. I don't understand the main characters final moves! It just did not make sense to me and actually made me pretty angry with how invested I was in him. I'm sure there is a philosophical aspect to it I'm just not getting but I wish after all of that the author would have spent a bit more time developing that last aspect and finishing the characters stories.

Regardless, this book was wonderful and I will recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery, sci-fi, ethical dilemma, classic 1920s setting. I can't wait to re-read it knowing what I know now.
