To start, I want to thank BookishFirst for the opportunity to read The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle for free in advance. I was so excited to get my hands on this book, thinking it was going to be in the vein of an Agatha Christie novel. It definitely had certain aspects of a Christie mystery in terms of the multiple characters and the English manor setting. However, I found the constant switching in and out of different bodies and the discontinuation of certain days to then go to other days with different characters too much. From other reviews, I have found that I am in the minority here, but I was definitely not able to keep the characteristics of each host separate from one another and truthfully, I did not understand the rules of the game. First the Plague Master seemed cruel and unflinching in his sadism, yet later seemed to be a friend of Aiden. WHO IS AIDEN, BY THE WAY? It was all just too much for me to keep straight and it wasn't worth the effort to keep going, so I DNF'd around 70% of the way through. Oh well!
