This novel was slow going for me. Initially the premise was intriguing. 7 deaths? How? A half death? How?
There was so much switching back and forth and repeating scenes from different point of views that I struggled to keep up or remember who already did what.
The ending was the part that really bumped it up though. Once I realized what was going on and why, I loved the idea! It felt very black mirror to me and in fact there is a Black Mirror episode with a similar idea.
I do know that many people loved this book so maybe it was just me, but I enjoyed it as a one time read. I might recommend it to someone who is looking for something specific as a “try it” offer, but I wouldn’t read it again myself.
I would however, be interested to read something else by the author just to see if it’s better or about the same style of writing. Again, I liked the idea, just too much switching.
