This is going to be one of those love/hate books. And, my guess is going to to be that the line is drawn between those who don't want to use the brain power necessary to wade through the intricacies of this book and those that love detail. (The author mentions his use of an Excel spreadsheet in the Q&A at the end of the arc I received. Totally makes sense!) It is not a light read. But, it is an intensely smart and clever story. Imagine a good Agatha Christie reenacted on those moving staircases at Hogwarts and you get the idea. So, yes, a great read, but no, do not take it on your wonderfully restful beach vacation. Save it. Winter is coming. Stock up on your favorite warm beverage, stock away some frozen meals, and just wait for that weekend you don't want to leave the house. Aidan, Anne, the Plague Doctor, the footman, and everyone else at Blackheath will be waiting!
