A different kind of mystery

I feel like I've read so many books marketed as "in the vein of Agatha Christie," but this is the first one to live up to that hype. The book follows our narrator, who each day awakens in the body of a guest at a house, and each day has to find details to solve a murder and avoid his own untimely death.

I've never been the best at figuring out whodunit before the big reveal, and I can't pretend this was any different. Every time I got a new piece of information, I could see it building to something, but was completely blown away by the ending.

I can only imagine the amount of detail that went into planning this novel. The constantly changing timeline was hard to keep track of, but when it all started to come together, I had the same "aha" moment that I get with the best Christie stories. There was more of a focus on scenery than most Christie books; the sense of place here is vivid and certainly adds to the overall atmosphere.
