This is quite a different read that I'm finding it hard to write an adequate review. A cross between Quantam Leap and Ground Hog Day, this is a murder mystery in which the main character knows who is going to die and when but must figure out how to save her.

"Somebody’s going to be murdered at the ball tonight. It won’t appear to be a murder so the murderer won’t be caught. Rectify that injustice and I’ll show you the way out."

Stuart Turton wrote a unique, atmospheric, complex story that had me turning the pages. I was so engaged I didn't care to guess so much who did it, I was just rooting for the main character to figure it out and get out of the loop.

I didn't give it the full five stars because of a particular element toss in that felt rush and rather confusing to me. Had the author written that section in the middle or slowly revealing it, I think it wouldn't be a problem. Right now, I am still trying to wrap my head around that revelation. While I love the premise and everything else in the book, the ending left me a bit disappointed.
