The writing is fairly simple and leans too heavily on telling over showing; there's also something about the narration that I find annoying, and it makes the main character less-than-likeable for me. But the premise is very intriguing, and the opening sentences hooked me right away—I definitely want to know what's going on here. I just hope this book delivers—certain explanations (such as gaslighting, which I'd suspected was the explanation at first, but the book's blurb would imply otherwise) could be very satisfying, while others could greatly disappoint.
