If Before I Fall was a mystery

My first impression is that this novel seems to be similar to Lauren Oliver's "Before I Fall" but with a murder-mystery scenario. It could be a thrilling ride. Also it has a unique twist that it isn't the victim reliving her own death, but a man that tries to save her. Will he succeed or at the very least find out who killed her? I can't wait to find out.
