I was immediately drawn in by the cover, it is beautifully designed and appealing to the eye. If I saw it on the shelf, I would want to reach for it. I also like the images on the corners: a compass, the chess piece, and what looks like a bottle of poison. On first glance, It makes me wonder what their role will be in the book. My first impression is that this book is unique and I want to keep reading. I like that the narrator changes bodies throughout the book. It provides a sense of suspense and grabs the reader’s attention. It keeps you guessing who the narrator will take form as next, and makes it that much more difficult for them to reach the end goal. It’s not easy to work with that many characters but based on what I read so far, the author seems to have mastered it.
