I'm just baffled by this First Impression. This is another awkward excerpt that deals with an MC with amnesia, yet they still retained so much information, except anything pertinent... I'm just not digging it. "I would pray, but I don’t remember the words" and "A murder //19 years ago// [emphasis mine] and a murder this morning. //Surely// that can't be a coincidence." Phrases like this are just irksome. And it's just a bunch of bland white rich folks, mostly men, none of them likeable, and MC just gets feelings about who is whatever to him. (Literally a description of one room lumps all of the men and all of the women into groups of similar looking people. If the author doesn't care to make this house guest mystery interesting or detailed, why should I be bothered to care?)

"Freed from the house with a slaughter to enjoy, they seem almost human." WTF? There's just so much telling, and so much of this MC just going along with really nothing, and I'm not interested. This is a mystery that's trying too hard, that's being mysterious just for the sake of it. No thank you, but thanks for the first look.
