A really interesting premise and I love how the readers know just as much as the protagonist. Which is to say absolutely nothing until it's introduced into the story. It makes it really easy to get sucked in to the mystery of it all. The writing is also really enjoyable to read and very atmospheric. I also really like cover design and how they've tied some details of the story while still managing to to keep it simple and elegant. The only one I can really point out right now from the excerpt is the compass.
