Different than book description

This book starts with a man waking up in the forest, not knowing who he is, but knowing that someone named Anna is in danger. Thinking Anna murdered due to his indecisiveness he winds up at a manor where he's apparently staying, but doesn't recognize anyone, and no one has heard of Anna. This is definitely intriguing, but is certainly confusing when comparing it to the synopsis of the book. I would want to keep reading to find out if it is actually the death of Evelyn the man witnessed, and if he's in fact the inspector inhabiting the first guest trying to solve the murder.
