So I know I'm kind of the oddball her, but while I have heard of the Prime Suspect series, I have never watched the show or read any of the books. I'm glad I got to start with this one, the prequel to the series. Just a few of the things that I really loved about it were the time period, a time when working a case wasn't done with modern technology like cell phones, computers, and social media. I also really enjoyed the main character's awkwardness, both as a rookie and as a female in a male-dominated workplace. She's smart and determined and has a lot to learn. Who doesn't feel that way starting out in life or when attempting a new career? The case was fantastic as were the supporting characters. I was hooked from the beginning of the book and couldn't wait to see how it was going to end.
