First impressions are important and I had never heard of Lynda La Plante, long time followers know I absolutely adore Karin Slaughter. After seeing the visually appealing cover, I looked at is closer and was rather impressed with the praise spoke by Karin Slaughter slapped on the cover.

When I started reading the book, I was not disappointed at all. Lynda La Plante has a way of drawing you in and capturing your attention from the get go. The reader gets to follow Jane Tennison as she is going through the struggles of trying to earn her way onto the detective squad and dealing with the male ego on a daily basis while trying to work her way up.

There are two cases going on in this book, one of which keeps you guessing who done it, the other you get to watch both sides as the story unfolds. It is a spell binding story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, all the way to the very shocking twist at the end.

Lynda La Plante is an absolutely talented writer and I am just dying to get my hands on book two in the Jane Tennison series.
