This book is set in London, early 70s. Jane Tennis on is one of 2 female police officers. Both are doing a probationary period. Most of the men aren't really fond of giving them anything to do other than answering phones or filing. Jane wants to work real cases though and manages to get involved in a murder case.
I feel this author is over descriptive at times. The author uses the words and language from the time period, which I found confusing at times during the story. I think the story was long and drawn out. I found myself becoming bored. I didn't like or dislike any of the characters, I have an ambivalent feeling towards pretty much everything about this book. Kudos to the author for all the research in the term for this time period, but this book was just not for me.
