Tennison, by Lynda la Plante is about a series of coincidental events leading to the discovery that there may be an attempt to rob a bank. An elderly lady has an asthmatic attack. A phone call to police headquarters with a hard to hear message. An addict steals the cash payroll from her father.
Jane Tennison is a newbie at the police department and, as such, is teased, picked on and assigned jobs no one else wants.
You get hooked immediately. The characters in this book are very well developed and even the smaller players like the “shoe lady” and the owners of the tailor shop are described perfectly.
The robbery is carefully planned to the last detail. Nothing can go wrong!
You laugh a little and cry a little.
Can Jane handle what is thrown at her? Will her bright mind get her in trouble or be an asset?
This is a good read for detective story fans with some romance and family dynamics thrown in!
