I am somewhat tired of police and thriller novels. They seem to have saturated the market and I was skeptical to read this excerpt expecting the same ole' thing. But, this was a pleasant surprise as I immediately took to the main character and could really picture her perfectly in her surroundings. The only thing that irked me was that I didn't have a firm sense of time period. I am assuming it was the 60's given the Janis Joplin reference??
