I was quickly hooked on this British police procedural, which takes place several decades ago. I love an old-fashioned crime solving book. The main character, Jane, is young and ambitious with a lot of learning to do. This just adds to the excitement. Usually, police procedurals feature hardened cops who have seen it all, so it's refreshing to experience Jane's awe and mistakes with her. I really want to see how she does on her first big murder case.
