I haven't seen the BBC TV series, or read any of the books in this series, so for me, this was my first introduction to the character of Jane Tennison. And I really enjoyed her! I did have lingering feelings that I was perhaps missing out on things, not knowing where the character ends up and the story the main series has already laid down, but perhaps this was also a bonus as I didn't have any preconceived notions of who Jane should be. I love murder mystery series with a strong female lead, and this is a known classic, so this was right up my alley!
